BalletBallet is a highly technical dance style with its terminology based on the French language. Beginning in the royal courts of the Italian Renaissance, ballet has since spread worldwide and become the basis of technique for most other dance styles. Rooted in tradition, every ballet class follows the same structure.
One begins at the barre with a series of short combinations, starting with plié and ending with grand battements, then moving to the center and across the floor. At Jami Masters School of Dance, we believe in exposing students to as much information as possible. Thus, we encourage teachers to explain and involve as many ballet techniques as possible, including Russian Vaganova, American Balanchine, Italian Cecchetti, and more. |

Our ballet classes begin with level 1
(even when a dancer moves up school grade levels).
Level 1
Level 1: For dancers ready to learn the basics of ballet while refining their understanding of musicality. Students will build off the five positions, master plié variations and tendus, among other level-appropriate skills. Dancers will use both barre and centre floor. Dancers will work to master level I curriculum to move on to level II with the instructor’s recommendation.
Level 2These classes will take the skills learned in level I and build upon them to strengthen the dancer regarding precision and ability. Students will work on skills and utilize barre and centre floor work to improve their technique. Dancers must show proficiency and receive placement to progress to this level. |
Level 3Advanced ballet dancers looking to challenge their previous knowledge and training. Students will learn more complex combinations and skills while developing finesse and classic style. Dancers must master all level I and II skills and techniques to enroll in this level with the instructor’s placement. |
