Courtney Reese
Courtney Reese started dancing at the age of 3 in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. Her first dance teacher inspired her and taught her many important things; how to tie her shoes, how to listen respectfully and how to dance with heart and skill. Reese danced recreationally at Advance Dance Studio until 5th grade when she joined the traveling competition team. She studied tap, jazz, ballet, contemporary, pointe, hip hop, modern and pom/cheer. While continuing to dance at her studio, she founded the dance team at her middle school and found her passion for leadership. When Reese was 13, she committed to her high school’s Varsity dance team, eventually serving as the team’s choreographer, co-captain and captain. Upon graduating from high school, Reese attended The University of North Carolina at Charlotte and was a member of the Gold Dusters Dance team. Reese led her sorority’s dance program for three years, earning multiple first place titles. After graduating from UNCC, Reese taught dance to young children in addition to her full-time marketing/public relations job. With a strong passion for performing and working with a team, Reese is excited to be a CheckMate for the Charlotte Checkers AHL Hockey team for the 2017-2018 season. This will be her first year teaching at JMSD, focusing on hip-hop and jazz.
