Elena GleasonElena Gleason (Mourad) began her ballet training at the Fort Wayne Ballet Academy in 1993 under Radmilia Teodorovic from the State Ballet Academy of Belgrade. Elena has also studied under Karen Gibbons-Brown from American Ballet Theatre, Derek Reid from Dance Theater of Harlem, Ballet Met, and Butler University. She has studied many forms of ballet technique including Cecchetti, Vaganova, and American Ballet Theatre. She also trained in the RAD program and received distinction, graduating from level III with honors. Her summer intensives have included working with Jeremy Blanton, Lees Hummel, Steven Stone, Todd Eric, Sherri Allen, Madame Francine Harvard, and Judith Woodruff. Elena’s repertoire includes thirteen consecutive seasons of the Nutcracker with highlight roles including “Sugar Plum Fairy”, “Arabian Coffee” pas de deux, and “Snow Queen”. She has performed as “Hermia” from a Midsummer Nights Dream, “Dawn” from Coppelia, “Princess Elena” from the Firebird, and “Fairy of Joy” and “Jewel” from the Sleeping Beauty. She was also chosen to play “Elizabeth” for the world premiere of Frankenstein, choreographed by Lees Hummel and Steven Stone. In 2002, Elena was chosen as one of three senior trainee company dancers to represent the Fort Wayne Ballet in Paris, France. She graduated salutatorian of her high school class and received a full ride scholarship to the Butler Ballet in 2005. In addition, she graduated with a Pharm D. and MBA from Butler University in 2011. Elena’s other full time job is raising four beautiful children Graham, Lucas, Emory and Quinn. |
