Emily KavenaghEmily Ann Kavenagh was born in Akron, Ohio and grew up training at Nan Klinger’s Excellence in Dance under artistic director, Mia Klinger. There, she was part of the studio’s youth ballet, Ballet Excel Ohio. She attended summer intensives at Cincinnati Ballet 2015, Saratoga Springs Summer Dance Intensive 2016, Carolina Ballet 2017, and Charlotte Ballet 2019. In the summer of 2018, she had her first professional experience dancing with Neo’s Dance Theatre in their production of Petrushka. In December of 2021, she earned her B.F.A in Ballet Performance with a minor in Marketing from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music. There, she trained in ballet, modern, jazz, musical theatre, character dance, choreography, acting, and dance pedagogy. She got featured/demi soloists rolls in Cinderella, Le Corsaire, George Balanchine’s Serenade, and student showcase pieces. She got to work with world-renowned instructors and choreographers including Deirdre Carberry, Qi Jung, Tricia Sundbeck, Isabelle Elefson, Gemma Diaz, Shauna Steele, Karen Burke, and Joysanne Sidmus. Emily participated in her college's co-op program and danced professionally while finishing her degree. As a dancer of Columbia Classical Ballet (artistic directors Radenko Pavlovich and Brooklyn Mack), Emily danced several rolls in The Nutcracker, The Wizard of Oz, La Bayadere, Carabosse and the Curse of Sleeping Beauty choreographed by Simone Cuttino, and Bolero choreographed by Simone Cuttino from August of 2020 to August 2022. Emily moved to Charlotte in Spring of 2023 and has decided to share her passion for dance by teaching. In her spare time, she also enjoys teaching barre and yoga. |
