Samantha Parker (Contemporary/Lyrical) has been dancing since she was able to walk, beginning her official dance training with Showcase Dance Centre at 18 months old. She continued to study ballet, tap and jazz, until being promoted to the competition team at the age of twelve. From that point, she expanded her style repertoire to include lyrical, contemporary, modern and hip-hop. She auditioned for North Carolina Dance Theatre’s 2009 Summer Intensive. Upon concluding six weeks in this training program, Samantha auditioned for North Carolina Dance Theatre’s Ballet 3 level, and studied there until the age of seventeen. Samantha is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, where she graduated Magna Cum Laude, with a Bachelor of Art in Dance. If Samantha has learned anything through her experience as a dancer and her studies at UNCC, it’s the value of students understanding their anatomical structure and being taught to approach ballet, as well as other dances forms with an injury prevention methodology.
